PACT Ultra Lite Bathroom Kit Wins 2025 Bikepacking.com Gear of the Year

Bikepacking.com is the destination for all things Bikepacking related. The site, alongside their printed, Bikepacking Journal extensively cover routes, culture, how-to’s, events and, yes, all of the amazing gear that helps riders take their adventures to the next level.

This makes Bikepacking’s Annual Gear of the Year Awards a coveted prize for brands spanning bikes, components, tools and camping gear (ahem).

PACT Outdoors won a Bikepacking Gear of the Year Award back in 2023 for our PACT Lite Kit. Reviewers loved the product, calling it “a favorite tool among their team.” But, in talking with them in the years since, they quietly wondered if it could be even more compact without sacrificing utility. Challenge accepted…

Two years later, we’re proud to announce that our PACT Ultra Lite Bathroom Kit was awarded 2025 Gear of the Year in the camping category, saying, “It’s become a favorite for overnighters and weekend outings…”

The PACT Ultra Lite Bathroom Kit

The PACT Ultra Lite Bathroom Kit is our lightest, and most compact all-in-one backcountry poop kit. It was designed with two groups in mind: bikepackers and trail runners. Both are outdoor activities where users log tons of days and miles on the trail, meaning they put their gear to the test. They also have the most stringent limitations on weight and space.

The PACT Ultra Lite was designed with durability and minimalism in mind.

The all-in-one kit holds ~3 days worth of PACT Wipes (to keep users clean) and Mycelium Tabs (to support nature-friendly break down), all inside the aluminum handle of the shovel. The thick, durable shovel blade screws on to the end of the body and then nests around the handle of the shovel for compact storage. The entire kit weighs ~2.5oz when fully stocked with supplies.

This makes the Ultra Lite Bathroom Kit a great choice for overnight or long weekend trips in the backcountry and in environments where burying your poop is appropriate practice.

For environments like arid deserts, alpine tundra, and ultra high use areas, we recommend users pack out their waste using our Pact Out Kits (i.e. WAG Bags).

Bikepacking Magazine’s In-Depth Review of The PACT Ultra Lite

Back in May of 2025 Neil Beltchenko of Bikepacking.com did an in-depth review on our “compact poop tech”. He called it “an impressively compact and light trowel system that contains everything you need.”

Why This Award Is Extra Special

Woman gravel biking on dirt roads through the Gunnison Valley

PACT Outdoors is based in Colorado’s Gunnison Valley, which encompasses the towns of Crested Butte and Gunnison. Crested Butte is arguably the birthplace of mountain biking, home to the Crested Butte Mountain Biking Association, the oldest mountain bike club in the world, and all the singletrack trails to back it up.

Down valley in Gunnison people from all over the world flock to the rocky, technical cross country riding of Hartman Rocks and over 1,000 miles of dirt roads for some of the most remote and scenic gravel biking in the world.

We’re beyond lucky to live in a world class destination for all forms of biking, which makes us that much more proud to be designing products that the community finds essential for their longest and most remote days out on the trails and roads.

Next time you’re in town, give us a shout. We’d love to take you out for spin.
